3-Piece Casual.
I’ve written before about my love for what I’ve deemed the deconstructed 3-piece look. That is to say, pants, vest and jacket but not a suit. I think doing this with hearty fabrics (think denim, corduroy, hopsack/flannel, etc…) keeps a more casual nice and sharp.
But it’s dangerous, I think this is the most botched look I see on Tumblr even by “experts”. If you have a dressy jacket, dressy vest, silk tie, and jeans you’re wearing a #menswear mullet, business up top, party down below. It usually looks a little wonky, but gets rocked by tailoring pros so people eat it up. Keep the tie casual (I like wool tartan, but as long as it isn’t a super shiny silk you’ll be alright), and the fabrics in the same family and you’ll look great without seeming too uptight.
Shit, when it’s as warm as it is today, you don’t even need a coat as the 3 pieces will keep you warm as you drop off stuff to get tailored, get some coffee, hit the library and all those other errands you need to look good, but not too good, for.
